Shopify Cookie Banner Pricing: What to Check Before You Install

July 9, 2026

Comparing cookie consent apps on price alone will not get you far. The widely used ones cluster around the same monthly figure, and most of them offer a free plan that shows a banner. The number is not the differentiator. What actually varies is which capabilities sit behind the paid tier, and that is worth ten minutes before you install.

Check one: where does Google Consent Mode v2 live?

This is the setting that decides whether your Google Ads and Analytics tags are paused by a visitor's choice or simply broken by it. On the pricing pages of the three most-installed cookie apps in July 2026, Consent Mode v2 sits on the paid tier: Consentmo lists it under Standard, Pandectes under Plus, Avada under Professional. Their free plans show a banner without it.

So the honest comparison is not "which app is cheaper", it is "does the free plan actually gate my pixels, or just display a notice?" Check the feature list, not the headline price.

Check two: can the banner itself ever be limited?

A consent banner is a safety net, so the question worth asking is whether anything about your plan can stop it running. This used to be a real problem. Consentmo reviews from 2021 describe a page-view quota that switched the banner off mid-month, one merchant reporting it went dark five days in, another that it disappeared with no warning.

To be fair to those apps: that is history, not today. The major providers now advertise unlimited banner impressions on every tier, including free. The reason to still ask is that the failure mode was real once, and a banner that can be switched off for billing reasons is worth ruling out in writing before you rely on it.

Check three: what happens to your consent records?

If you are keeping a consent log as evidence, find out how much of it you can see and export without upgrading. A log you cannot retrieve is not much use as proof. Most apps, ours included, limit history or export on the free tier, so it is better to know the limit up front than to discover it when you need the records.

How ConsentProof prices

One flat price, and Google Consent Mode v2 is included on every plan rather than held back for an upgrade. The free plan gives you the geo-targeted banner, pixels gated through Consent Mode v2 and Shopify's Customer Privacy API, unlimited page views, and the last seven days of your consent log. The $9 plan adds full consent history, CSV export, and uptime alerts that email you if the banner embed goes missing from your storefront. The banner is not limited by plan or traffic on any tier.

Try ConsentProof
